How do
I make an appointment?
Call the office @ 818-848-5858. One of our staff will make an appointment
for you.
Can I mail my information to you and have a phone appointment?
Yes. We love phone appointments. We also prepare tax returns for many
out of state clients. Make photocopies of your important tax documents
and completed worksheet. Express or mail them to us and arrange for an
appointment. We will call you at the appointed time. No traffic. No headaches.
What happens if you are sold out of an appointment for the April
15th deadline?
We will file an extension for you, but you must call us. We need to
determine if you have a tax liability with the IRS or the Franchise Tax
Board. If you owe, you will save interest penalties by paying with your
extension.
What
should I bring to my appointment?
Bring all of your W-2s, 1099's, bank interest statements, year-end
brokerage tax statements, a copy of your escrow papers if you bought or
sold real estate. If you sold securities during the year we will need
the date of purchase and cost basis for the items you sold. You may need
to call your broker to obtain this information. We also need Social Security
numbers for any new dependents. Finally, please fill out a worksheet.
What happens after my appointment?
The return is usually finished in two weeks or less. We will call
you when it has been completed. You may pick it up or have it delivered
via the United States Postal service or DHL. You may pay us in advance
or when you pick it up.
Can I get signed Circle Jerks memorabilia?
Don't be silly. That was a long time ago.
How long do I need to save old tax records?
A good rule of thumb is five years.
Do I need to save receipts?
Yes. You should save receipts for all business related expenses, they
will be necessary in the unlikely event of an audit.
Why does the city of Los Angeles want me to have a business license?
Assembly Bill AB63 gives the city access to information on your tax
return. If you get any 1099s or have a Schedule C as part of your return,
the city will require you to have a business license. If you earn less
than $100,000 there is no charge; however, you must fill out your own
business license form by the February 28th due date. The exemption amount
is $300,000 for creative artists.
